The Fishing
Nicely Netted offers you the chance to fish for many different species in many different locations throughout Portugal and Spain, giving you some of the best fishing in Europe.
We also offer you the chance of fishing the river Ebro in Spain for the giant Wels Catfish as a better option to Portugal, as the Catfish fishing is a bit hit and miss in Portugal. This is because the Wels Catfish are not a native fish of the Iberian Peninsular. They were stocked in the river Ebro some twenty years ago and since then they have made their way through the river systems that connect the river Ebro to the rest of the Iberian Peninsular.
Nicely Netted has done its own stocking program of Wels Catfish in Portugal in a few secret locations, but at this time we feel that the river Ebro is a better option. We will give anyone interested in Catfish fishing in Portugal, our up to date catch report.
The major rivers in Portugal are the Douro, Tagus and Guadiana which offer you some spectacular fishing. Most of the dams hold a very good head of Carp, Barbel and Black Bass.
General coarse fishing for species such as Bream and Roach etc are in the rivers above Lisbon towards the river Douro in the north.
The Alqueva dam in Portugal is the biggest man made lake in Europe and is fed by the river Guadiana, it holds excellent fishing potential for the future.
